Description

Portland cement is a hydraulic binding material
which is made from a finely ground mixture of
components containing CaCO3..(limestone),
SiO2 and Al2O3 (clay, marl) and Fe2O3 (roasted pyrites and rich clays). The mixture should be so composed that the proportion of basic constituents (CaO) is about 1.7 times the proportion of acid constituents (SiO2,Al2O3 ,Fe2O3).

Description

Pozzolona is a natural rock deriving its name from
Pozzuoli, near Naples, and characterized in possessing pronounced "latently hydraulic " properties. The term pozzollona is now applied in a more general way to the whole range of materials possessing such properties

Cement is a binding material which hardens in air and under water and is water-resistant after hardening (hydraulic binding material) and which consists substantially of compounds of calcium oxide (CaO) and silica (SiO2), Alumina (Al2O3) and iron oxide (Fe2O3), while satisfying the requirements of the standards of strength and soundness.
